Windmill Jan van Arkel is an octagonal tower mill with a stone substructure on the Vlietskade in Arkel.
The mill was once built as a polder mill and later transferred to Arkel where it was set up as a flour mill.

Until 1980, milling was still done for farmers in the region.
Now there is a Bed & Breakfast downstairs in the mill.
Upstairs everything is still exactly as it used to be.

The Jan van Arkel, a national monument, is owned by the SIMAV, the Foundation for the Conservation of Mills in the Alblasserwaard and the Vijfheerenlanden.

If you would like to visit the mill, you can book an individual guided tour.

In addition, the mill usually runs on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month and is then free to visit. (Guided tour only by appointment.)
